The basics

What is Mimi Learn It?

Mimi Learn It is a learning app for young children, used with a parent or guardian. Mimi and her friends teach reading, letters and sounds, words, math, science and social studies through short lessons, stories and games. It works in English and Spanish (in Spanish it's called Mimi Aprende). There are no ads.

What ages is it for?

Children from age 2 (toddlers) up through 5th grade. Lessons are set by your child's grade:

Only a grown-up (18 or older) creates the account. Children never make their own account.

Where can we use it? Is there an iPhone or Android app?

Today Mimi Learn It works in the web browser on a phone, tablet or computer at mimilearnit.com. Apps for iPhone/iPad and Android are coming soon.

How do I get started?

Tap Get started free, add your email, then add each child: first name, birthday, grade, school year, state and the language they speak. We suggest a grade from the birthday, and you can change it. Your child then picks a subject and plays the next lesson on the map.

Free trial & billing

How does the 7-day free trial work?

Some early families have a free plan we gave them by hand; if yours says Early access (free) or Free (on the house), nothing is charged.

How does billing work?

On the website: payments are handled by Stripe, a secure payment company. Your card number goes straight to Stripe. We never see or keep it. You can pay monthly or yearly, and one family plan covers up to 6 children.

In the iPhone and Android apps (coming soon): once the apps launch, a plan bought inside an app will be billed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), and you'll manage or cancel it in your Apple or Google account settings.

Where do I see my plan?

Open Account (the person button at the top right), enter your parent passcode, and go to Children. The Your plan box shows your plan, when your trial ends or your plan renews, and how many child spots you've used.

How do I cancel?

On the website:

  1. Open Account (top right) and enter your parent passcode.
  2. Go to Children and find the Your plan box.
  3. Tap Manage subscription. This opens Stripe's secure billing page for your account.
  4. Choose to cancel your plan and follow the steps. That page also lets you change your card and see your receipts.

You can cancel any time, including during the free trial. To avoid being charged, cancel before the trial ends.

In the apps (coming soon): cancel in your Apple ID subscriptions (iPhone/iPad) or Google Play subscriptions (Android).

Having trouble? Contact us and we'll cancel it for you.

How do I change my card or get a receipt?

Account > Children > Your plan > Manage subscription (or Receipts and card, if you've paid before but don't have an active plan). Stripe's page lets you update your card and download receipts.

Can I get a refund?

If something isn't right with a charge, contact us from your account's email address and we'll help.

Children, grades & language

How do I add another child?

Open Account, enter your parent passcode, go to Children and tap + Add a child. A family plan includes up to 6 children.

How do I change my child's grade, birthday or state?

Account > Children > your child's card > the settings box: Grade, Birthday (month and year) and State. The grade sets their lessons. Every August, when a new school year starts, your child moves up one grade automatically. You can change it any time.

Can I make the questions easier or harder?

Yes. In Account > Children, in your child's settings, change Quiz level: Easy, Medium (the standard for their grade) or Hard. Every child starts on Medium, and children can't change it themselves.

How do we switch between English and Spanish?

Tap English or Español at the top of the screen. Each child also has a language setting (English, Español or both) in Account > Children > Speaks, and their lessons open in that language. You can also go straight to the Spanish site at mimiaprende.com.

How do I switch which child is playing?

On the Who's learning today? screen, tap your child's picture. Or open Account > Children and tap Play as on their card.

How do I see how my child is doing?

Account > Progress shows this week's play days, the score by subject, where the mistakes are, what they're strong at, what needs practice, recent lessons and what's next.

Signing in & the parent passcode

How do I sign in?

Use the same way you signed up:

If you signed up with Google or Apple, keep using that button. If the code doesn't arrive, check your spam folder and wait a minute before asking for a new one.

What is the parent passcode?

A 4 to 6 digit code you choose the first time you open Account. It keeps children out of the grown-up area. It's asked whenever someone opens Account, and for friend requests and photos. Once entered, it stays unlocked for 10 minutes.

I forgot my passcode.

On the passcode screen tap Forgot passcode?. We email a 6-digit code to your account's email. Type it in, then tap your new passcode.

Story Time, Mimi Tube & games with friends

What is Story Time?

Picture-book stories and short animated movies starring Mimi and friends, for ages 2 through 2nd grade. On the learning page tap the blue ☰ Menu > Story Time. Books are read aloud page by page (use the arrows). A movie plays like a video, with play and pause.

What is Mimi Tube?

Short videos made by Mimi Learn It, starring Mimi and her friends. Tap the big red Mimi Tube tile on your child's main page (or ☰ Menu > Mimi Tube) to watch them full screen, and swipe up or down for the next one. Viewers can tap the heart or share a video. There are no ads, no comments and no videos from strangers.

How do games with friends work?
How does the leaderboard work?

Each right answer in lessons and live games is worth 10 points. Kids can see the top 100 by grade, in their state, or among friends. You can turn it off for your child in Account > Children.
